POLITICAL TRAUMA IN TANZANIA

Tanzania is experiencing significant political tension following its 2025 general elections, which have sparked widespread controversy. Opposition parties and human rights groups claim the elections lacked transparency, citing voter intimidation, unfair disqualification of candidates, and suppression of dissent. Protests have erupted in major cities, with demonstrators demanding electoral justice and government accountability.

In response, authorities imposed curfews, restricted internet access, and deployed security forces to maintain order. Several opposition leaders and activists have reportedly been detained, heightening public concern. President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her supporters, however, insist that the elections were free and fair, urging citizens to remain calm and focus on unity and stability as the nation seeks to move forward amid growing political divisions.
